Because of curiosities of the wildlife occurring within the Tarnobrzeg county tourists may admire on the land not only rare plants and old tree stands but also unique fowl species. The projected nature reserve "Stawy" (Ponds) of the mixed ornithological, water and forest type is located within the limits ofcommunes Nowa Deba and Grebow and eovers 753 ha. The main objective for establishing the reserve is preserving the existing since the years between world wars naturalised complex of fish ponds surrounded by forests and meadows. In present conditions the interesting fowl species of national and international importance should also be legally protected.
Within the ponds' area 177 fowl species have been identified characteristic of water, swamps, forest, meadow and field environments. Water and swamp birds recognised as the rarest or even on the verge extinction include: the common heron, the purple heron and the great white egret, the lesser spotted eagle, the osprey, the white-tailed eagle, the Slavonian grehe, the black cormorant, the night heron, the golden eagle, the black kite, the black stork and the white stork - 48 nesting pairs. For these fowl species, the white stork excluded, protection zones of nesting grounds have been established to preserve and save them from extinction. In the uniquely abundant and diversified plant life of particular forest complexes nearly natural-condition dry-ground forests with ancient specimens of the English oak have been preserved.
Grounds of the planned reserve display unique recreational and leisure characteristics because of the large ponds area equal 672 ha. The expanse of these ponds, vast rushes, sounds of swimming and flying birds all create a unique micro climate of aesthetic emotions. The preserved till today old palace parks creating spatial architectural arrangements show outstanding natural and layout characteristics. The best preserved park and garden compositions are located in Baranow Sandomierski and Grebow. The natural curiosity of the area is a monument of nature - a habitat of the twin-flower in the Forest Inspectorate Buda Stalowska area, Nowa Deba commune
The former Sulphur Mine "Machow” is in liquidation in Machow near Tarnobrzeg. An open cast in depression of 110 m was lined with a layer of Krakow clay. The built water reservoir will be 40 m deep and will coyer 470 ha. It will be filled with water from the Wisla river. The water circulation will be forced by the inlet channel and the drain running underneath the Wisla embankment and the dual-carriageway road so-called Wislostrada. In a few years it will be a great tourist attraction as nowhere in the world a sulphur mine has eyer been liquidated using water. Machowskie Lake will offer an opportunity of practising aquatic sports, including sailing.
